I have a keyboard part that uses the Cross To Staff Above Function (N shortcut). When I create a cue of that passage in another part, all the stems are forced upward, regardless of their original direction.
Is this expected behavior with cross-staff notation in cues, or is there a way to preserve the original stem directions?
It looks like it’s not possible to get a satisfactory result in the cue when the source staff contains cross-staff notes, indeed.
What you can do is convert the left‑hand voice (in the original staff) into a second voice on the upper staff: select the (left hand) notes, press Alt+N, then V (if you already have an existing down‑stem voice) or Shift+V (to create one). The cue should then appear correctly. You can remove the bar rests that appear in the left hand with Edit > Remove Rests.
Or, if you don’t want to modify the original staff, a second option is to create a dummy player just for the cues.
