Hi all,
I haven’t found an answer to my specific problem regarding cues in a percussion staff. I added a staff to implement the cues and it works fine but I have two problems:
- in this example, as soon as the snare drum stops playing and I want to display a cue, the 5-line staff appears. I don’t want that and I just want to see the cue where it appears, but I haven’t figured out how to do it.
- For each cue point, the change of instrument is notified by the specification “to tr.” in addition to the instrument cited in the cue point, and again the S.D. specification of the return to the instrument (in this example the cassie claire) appears. I’d like these elements to be omitted, and to simply indicate the instrument in the marker
Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi. It looks like Tr. is the “fake” instrument you use to embed your cues. Maybe give it a “spacebar” name and use custom instrument change labels (empty ones) for those situations? And hide the “fake instrument” entrance label?
Hello Marc,
yes, it would seem to be a good solution. Thanks for your help. However, I still can’t get a 5 lines stave to appear only when there’s cue and the rest of time, even if there’re rest measures, there’s only one line.
There’s an option for that:

@charles_piano is absolutely right. This option was added not too long ago (I don’t remember if it was in the 6 cycle or the 5 cycle), that would explain why you’re not familiar with it yet. Try it (and adopt it!)

Hello everyone,
Once again, regarding these issues with cues; Charles is absolutely right, and it works well, but I still have the issue when two cues from two different instruments follow each other. I would like to return to a single line between these two markers, and I cannot find a solution (example attached).

Ah, interesting problem!
The first thing that comes to mind would be to add a Chord Symbol Region to your percussion instrument in the first bar after a cue, but that excludes this bar from the multi-bar rest. A hidden note would give the same result.
There must be a solution to this!
Excellent idea, Charles!
That was also my first idea: to create a note that would be hidden, but I had a problem with the silences. Creating a text or a Chrod symbol is the perfect solution. Thank you.

And you can also fake the “1” with text if you want!
