Curious How Others Manage Non-Music Tasks While Staying Creative?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been part of the Steinberg community for a while and love seeing all the new updates and announcements — especially when they bring improvements that help workflow and creativity. While I’m passionate about music production, I’ve also realized how important it is to manage the everyday admin tasks that can otherwise steal focus from creativity.

One example from my own life while living abroad and juggling day-to-day responsibilities was finding a quick way to manage vehicle errands online. I used an online tool, evg fine , to check and clear traffic fines in the UAE without going to an office, which saved me a ton of time.

It got me thinking about how valuable decent workflows and tools are — whether for music production or for life in general.

So I’m curious:
How do you all handle non-creative tasks that still demand your attention?
Do you have go-to tools or routines that help keep your focus on making music without getting bogged down by admin stuff?

Would love to hear your tips thanks! :headphone::slightly_smiling_face:

Great question, I have a lot of opinions about this topic. However, I’ll just share one book that has had a positive impact on me, in terms of managing many things and helping me to compartmentalize and be productive with different categories of tasks and priorities. YMMV, maybe there will be some nugget of wisdom in here for you:

Atomic Habits by James Clear

I read it, too. The book offers some solid practical advice. Like @uarte suggested - just pick the strategies that appeal to you.

Another great read which also touches your topic is “The Creative Act: A Way of Being” by Rick Rubin. Same advice - pick the thoughts/views on creativity that resonate with you. At the end of the book are blank pages which leave room to articulate your immediate response on a chapter. That’s actually a nice little add-on.
