Cursor jumping and playing from selected Event start

I’ve setup my playback like this:

Space bar is assigned to a macro “Start and Return to Stop Position” with this command:

“Transport Start/Stop

Transport Return to Start Position”

I have Alt-Space set to Stop the transport

This is so I can press Spacebar to stop the transport and return to its start position, or if I press Alt-Space the cursor will stop where it is. Great stuff.

The problem is that if any event is selected in the Key Editor, when I press the Spacebar, the cursor jumps to the beginng of the note or CC and plays from there.

If no note or CC is selected the cursor plays from the last stop position.

How can I get the cursor NOT to ever playback from the event if a note or CC is selected but keep the other two cursor behaviors (stop and playback from last position and stop at current position)

Thanks,

M

Hi,

Double check the Transport > Start Mode options. You have these options available:

  • Start from Project Cursor Position (this is the deafault option, and I think you should go for it)
  • Start from Cycle Start
  • Start from Selection Start (I believe, this is the option you have selected)
  • Start from Selection or Cycle Start

Thank you so much, Martin. I didn’t even know this was in the Transport menu. I was looking around in the Preferences and having no luck.

Filed away for future references (for when I forget again. Ha)

Everything works how I was used to now.
