Custom staff size at a frame break - not working?

I’m trying to change the staff size for a section of a score, using the “Staff Size” option from the right-click menu on a Frame break (which coincides with the start of a Flow). This works OK for the “preset” values of 60% and 75%, but if I try to set a Custom Staff Size (e.g. 90%) it has no effect, and if I go into the Custom Size dialogue again it still says 100%. Am I doing something wrong?

I’m using Dorico Pro, Version 6.2.30.6245 (May 29 2026) under Windows 11.

With the break selected, change space size in the properties panel.

Thanks Jesper, that does the trick. Still puzzled why the way I tried doesn’t work, though.

Seems logical to me. In the properties panel, it’s a property of the break. (an override) In the staff menu, it’s for the whole staff (flow).

I agree with this in terms of how the properties apply, but I still think the behavior is odd.

When you right click a frame break and set a staff size, that change is not associated with the break itself; it’s the same as if you right click on an object on the staff and set it there. You can verify this by setting a staff size by right clicking the break, and then deleting the break; the staff size remains set as it was. Therefore, it seems unusual that setting a custom staff size by right clicking the frame break doesn’t work, when setting it by right clicking an object on the staff does.

@Andrew_Taylor Note also that if you change the staff size, that applies for the whole flow. If you change the space size at a break, as @jesele suggests, that can then be reset at a later break in the same flow.
