So I was thrilled with the new options for glissando lines and went straight ahead with experimenting. I might be doing something wrong but if I’m not, I think there is an issue with saving a custom wiggly gliss style as default.
I created a new line style with a new line body (which I creatively called Gliss.) and saved both as defaults with the star button. Then in Engraving options I set my new custom line style and saved those options as defaults.
However, when starting a new project, while the Custom line style option is indeed selected, the line style defaults to Wiggly line and not to the actual line style I saved.
My newly created line style is present in the dropdown menu (and indeed in the Lines library) so I’m positive this got saved as a default for all projects. Seems like a small bug to me, unless I’m doing something wrong?
Edit: I tried saving one of the default line styles (other than Wiggly line) as a default, and the same thing happens. In a new document the setting reverts to Wiggly line.
I think those options are for Dorico‘s native glissando lines (“from the Ornaments panel”).
If you create own lines, they follow their own line styles.
I don’t think I understand what you mean. The new option literally lets one set a custom line style for the wiggly glissando (I never use the ornaments panel).
But as I wrote in my post, the issue is also reproducable when choosing one of Dorico’s own line styles for the wiggly glissando and saving that as the default. It will still revert to the Wiggly line style in new projects and one has to change that every time.
Just to add to my OP, I’ve read the Version history where it says this:
In new projects, the Wiggly line horizontal line style is used by default […].
..but I didn’t understand that to mean that you can’t save a different line style as a default and have to change that for every project. If that is what it means, I’d be curious to know why, since that kind of defeats the purpose of saving an option as default.
Engraving options that define an ID for a library item will not be saved as default, because it is not necessarily the case that the item referenced by that option will be present in another project. You can save your custom line style to your user library, but Dorico doesn’t currently have the capability to check this at the time it’s saving options as defaults, so for safety it simply excludes values that depend on library items.
