I’m not able to cut, copy, and paste text for file names. For example, when creating a new project file and creating the folder, if I copy the name of the folder, then open the new project, and then try to save the project name and paste the name of the folder, it doesn’t work. It drives me nuts - it seems like one of the most basic functions of a computer that has been around since the beginning of computers. Does anyone have this experience and do you think it’s by design? I create lots of sketches and like to move quickly and it’s odd to have to keep right-clicking and selecting copy and right-clicking and selecting paste (especially when trying to use one hand on Teamviewer from a different room).
Bump. Wondering if this bothers anyone else? Seems like one of the most basic functions of a computer. I make lots of sketches every day and want to get things set up as quickly as possible to not get in computer head mode.
I don’t really understand the workflow or the issue you’re describing in the first post. Why are you needing to “save the project name and paste the name of the folder”?
Are you saying the keyboard shortcuts CMD+C and CMD+V don’t work for you? Can you try to explain it more clearly, or post a screenshot?
The MacOS Finder window isn’t “controlled” by Cubase–it’s just spawned, and you can use it to create folders and name saved files however you want. It is a basic function, and it does work(???).
Do you have the same issue when you’re at your computer–not running through TeamViewer?
I appreciate your response. I do mean that CMD+C and CMD+V don’t work. If I create a new project and create a folder for it (from the Cubase hub, I hit “CREATE EMPTY” and then a window pops up and from within it I can create the folder where I want that project to go”. I then highlight the name I just typed and hit CMD+C but nothing copies to my clipboard. If I right-click and select copy, it works. But the keyboard shortcut doesn’t work. And then the same when I open the new project and want to save the name of it with CMD+V, nothing pastes. I have to right-click and select “paste”.
And the same for Markers within Cubase. CMD+C and CMD+V don’t work. I’m not sure if that’s what happens universally with Cubase or just on my two computers. In other programs (Reaper, Photoshop, etc), CMD+C and CMD+V work fine for text in any of the menus or when creating and saving files.
It happens the same when I’m at the computer itself (not using TeamViewer).
I followed your steps using the CMD+C and CMD+V shortcuts to create a new project, and it worked. What MacOS version and Cubase version are you using?
Hey @XLColdJ ,
can you check which key shortcut is printed next to the copy menu item? Maybe you’ve reassigned it to something else?
Oh man, that solves it! I’m so relieved. Thank you! I had an additional shortcut command (probably from when I was using Teamviewer a few years ago) for CMD+C and CMD+V - I also had the original ones still there, but there was an extra assignment with command and option. Once I deleted those out, it’s working perfectly. I wrote to Steinberg about it a long time ago and they basically said that that was normal behavior when I described what was happening - maybe I didn’t explain it well.
Anyway, thanks so much for your help.
