"Cut" seems to act like "Cut Time"?

Brand new user on the trial for Elements. In an audio track I selected a region and tried edit-cut or delete/backspace - this of course deleted the unwanted selection but dragged everything from the right over to fill in the space. In the manual that sounds like the “Cut TIme” function.

How do I just cut or mute a small selection without affecting the audio that follows it?

That sounds like you have Shuffle snap mode active.

Thanks Steve, I did in fact have the snap button active, but un-clicking it did not resolve the issue. I can’t seem to find a drop down menu of the types of snap to turn off shuffle snap. (I see it in the manual but can’t find it in the program).
