It’s like there’s a ghost. I place the D.S. or the D.S. al Coda in engrave mode, then switch over to print mode…and they have moved. I go back to engrave, they are in a totally different and new place. Literally every time. Help please? Dorico 6, Windows 10. TIA!
Are you sure you have the same layout selected in both modes?
If so, could you post (part of) the project so someone can have a look?

Definitely same layout. thanks for looking.
There’s something strange going on that I can’t quite figure out. When first opening the file, the position of the DS and DS al Coda looked identical to me in Engrave and Print mode:
Then I opened a second window so I could view both modes side by side. When switching back and forth between Write and Print mode in the right-hand window, notice what happens in Engrave mode on the left:

I have no idea what’s going on here.. perhaps others have a clue.
(On a side note, I noticed you have a page override on page 1 because you moved the title frame up - that will prevent the layout from being updated automatically on that page. If you make that change in the First page template rather than on the page itself, you’ll get the same result but without the override (although since you only have 1 layout in the project, it probably won’t cause you much trouble). Unrelated to the issue of the moving DS markings though - I checked
).
Yes, you found it exactly. I seems like every time print mode is activated, it does some calculation that causes those DS elements to be shifted. I didn’t include the other parts, but it also occurs when I go between different instrument parts in Print mode.
So, no one else has weighed in so do I just live with this or what? Its a bug I guess, so I report it, how do I do that?
Thanks for the tip about the first page template. And for taking the time to look into it.
Anything you say here (about a bug) will be read by members of the Development Team: consider it reported.
I couldn’t find the topic yesterday but this has been reported before. Not for DS markings but for lines, I just found the topic. There Daniel gave the tip to turn off collision avoidance, but for DS markings this is not possible.
What you could do is hide those markings in the Properties panel (to preserve playback) and re-enter them as text items using the Repeat Marker Jumps paragraph style, with collision avoidance turned off, and then position them the way you want in Engrave mode. That should keep them in place (you’ll probably have to readjust the repeat endings as well).
Thank you!
The problem here is caused by the combination of graphical position offsets applied to the repeat ending lines, chord symbols, and repeat markers in bars 37-39. It definitely indicates a bug, I suspect caused by a mismatch between the range of music that is reprocessed when you switch into Print mode (which reprocesses the whole layout) and when you switch back to Write mode (which will more often reprocess only a smaller range). There is some instability in this calculation which will require further investigation. I’ll try to do this as soon as possible.
In the meantime, @Zalde’s advice is probably the best you can do for the time being.
