I have a piece in 7/4, normally split 4+3, but occasionally switching to 3+4. (A different piece from the similar one I asked about some time ago, but still Holst ) In the piano part the composer has a recurring double-dotted whole note in the left hand bass, which nicely fits an entire measure of 7/4 without needing ties. However, making the meter as piped 4/4 | 3/4 and ticking the combining option makes Dorico split the double-dotted note at the false barline by default, and I have to force duration to get double dots.
The image shows double dotting in the first measure, achieved using force duration, and split notes in the second and third. These had previously also appeared as double dotted, until I changed the meter from [4+3]/4 to 4/4 | 3/4 in order to get the dashed barlines. Iām hoping to avoid needing to make lots of manual forced durations on these: any ideas?
