I posted this in the Cubase forum but I don’t think its a Cubase issue.
I record my bands gig on an iPad. Normally using Logic. 13 tracks in two sets, total of about 2.5 hours. I open them on my Mac and export the tracks as wav files and import in to Cubase as I find its better for editing.
I tried using Cubasis 3 (latest version) at the last gig last month, and it recorded it fine. The idea was to save as a dawproject and open in in Cubase 15 for on my Mac. Cutting out the need for exporting as wav files. This doesnt seem to be a usable workflow.
I went to export, and chose dawproject. This gave em the option to save it to the iPad and I started this going. After a while I ended up with a 13GB dawproject file. Size wise this is what I normally get with Logic so I know it’s not missing anything.
But nothing will open the dawproject file. Not Cubase, not even Cubasis. I tried doing this 3 times, same result every time.
I was under the impression the above workflow would work, and be just as easy as doing it from Logic, but it seems the only thing I can do is to export each track as wav files.
The issue is related to the 4+ GB zip file size limit and will be resolved in the next update. However, please note that it may take some time before the update is released.
As a workaround, would it be possible for you to duplicate the project and create smaller project versions for the time being? If you do so, please take extra care to avoid accidentally deleting any files that may still be required.
Thanks for the feedback and I’m glad it’s going to be fixed.
The whole point of me going to Cubasis was to cut down on the amount of work needed to get the project on to my desktop, so for now I’ll go back to Logic as that does work ok in a similar way. I can then export the stems in to Cubase
I’ll try Cubasis again when the next update has been released.
