"Dead Note" Keyboard Shortcut?

I want to add a keyboard shortcut for “Guitar Technique: Dead note”

I don’t see “Dead Note” in the Dorico > Preferences > Key Commands list.

I see in this thread from Feb that there is a way to do it that requires using a recorded script. Is there a “cleaner” way now? The only keyboard shortcut I see for scripts is to re-run the last script, not a way to specify exactly which one.

I am fine editing a JSON file manually, but what would be the correct command to input?

You would need to create two separate custom key commands, one to activate the Dead note property, and another to deactivate it again. In your keycommands_en.json file, in the kMusicEditable context, add entries for the following two command strings:

UI.InvokePropertyChangeValue?Type=kNoteDead&Value=string: "true"
UI.InvokePropertyChangeValue?Type=kNoteDead&Value=string: "false"

The first activates the property, the second deactivates it.

After hand-editing your JSON file, use a linter like jsonlint.com to check that the whole JSON file is valid before you restart Dorico.
