I’ve set up a deadstick technique for my mallet instruments. It works fine. But I get one of those “deadstick technique not usually associated with this instrument” for marimba. I can’t think of any instrument that is more associated with deadstick than marimba 
It’s just a warning, so it isn’t anything more than a nuisance. But I do hope that the Dorico instrument descriptors will be updated a bit. There’s already been a fair amount of discussion about similar irrelevant warnings for various mutes in brass instruments. Thank yew!
