Default attach slur to notehead

Dorico Pro 5.1 will often attach the Slur to the Beam-side of an eighth or sixteenth note. While acceptable, I feel it looks more professional and makes it easier for players if the Slur is attached to the Notehead-side. Dorico will very commonly attach the Slur to the Beam-side, and it some cases it is necessary but it is tiring to have to hunt for them and manually flip the slur to the other side (that is what is nice about Dorico in other situations). I would like there to be a way for this to occur by default, or if not then by filtering.

Dorico follows the conventional rules for how slurs should be positioned relative to notes. When multiple voices are active, slurs will be positioned on the beam/stem side rather than than on the notehead side, to avoid unwelcome interactions between voices in the staff, and in single-voice music, slurs will be positioned above when the music has a mixture of stem directions; otherwise, slurs will be positioned on the notehead side.

I ran this answer by a university clarinet professor and showed him what Dorico was doing. He did not like it at all. About half the time it attaches the slur to the beam and half of the time to the notehead. There is only one line per staff (only one voice). Both of my composition teachers have always made me attach the slur to the notehead unless there was a significant conflict (of which you note). If you think Dorico is doing it the best way, could you make an option to attach slurs to noteheads in groups, or as a setting or something. The piece I am writing has 8 instuments and is 330 measures long, and it is hours of work. Thank you.

here is a PNG scree shot of what I would like it not to do.

here is another example

That’s certainly not normal.
Is this imported from xml? If so, you have good chances of resetting the layout.

I agree with @LAE , this is not what Dorico should do by default.
Now I don’t remember if there is a reset slurs’ positioning command but, assuming there is none, do this:

  1. Select All
  2. Edit > Filter > Slurs
  3. Open the Properties Panel (Cmd/Ctrl-8)
  4. Find the slurs category and uncheck (or check and uncheck again) the slur direction slider.

This should clear any local override that may have been imported by the XML

  1. Edit → Reset Appearance
  2. Edit → Reset Position

Or this, yes!
You can also create a Macro with both Reset Appearance and Reset Position!

This worked! Thank you both!
