When I enter a chromatic scale, using a MIDI keyboard, ascending, the notes appear as flats; when I enter a descending chromatic scale, the notes appear as sharps. This is exactly contrary to common practice. Is there a setting that I need to change?
What key is your piece?
That option is ENABLED in my project. It respells the notes backwards, as per my original description. I believe this is a bug.
I’d love to supply a project, but I’ve already corrected all the incorrect accidentals. If I provide a project file, will you, or others, attempt to enter the chromatic scale up and down in my project and see if you discover something unique to my file?
Yes. Providing a project file with the problem allows others to see if the same problem occurs on their computer, or if they can identify the cause.
Okay. Attached is the file. See the ascending lines in most parts at measure 148. When entering with a MIDI keyboard, ascending notes were all flats and descending notes were all sharps. Of course I fixed them manually so you can’t ‘see’ the problem now.

When I enter the piano sextuplets with a MIDI keyboard, I get almost exactly what you look for — except the Fb which appears as a E, and the first note (the Gb turns into a F# once I’m entering the D in the left hand staff, probably to avoid the diminished 4th D-Gb between both staves).
And when I enter a chromatic scale, it behaves exactly as expected (see the end of the video). Don’t you get the same on your end?
By the way, for this kind of music that obviously isn’t in C major, I think you could consider choosing Atonal as the key signature rather than C major.
Because with C major you end up with meaningless key signatures in the transposing‑instrument parts (clarinet, English horn…), which is probably not what you want?

Thanks for the video. The first thing I did before imitating your video was to change the key signature to atonal. Then, when I reproduced your video, I got the same results. The one thing that I did not realize is that the software forces vertical intervals to be ‘simple’ in piano parts. I don’t think changing the key signature to atonal changed the behaviour. I have no idea why this annoying ‘reverse’ behaviour plaig me throughout making this score and is now mysteriously gone.
