The page on Groove Agent markets “play-ready presets for all kinds of e-drum kits”.
I just tried the Roland TD midi preset with my TD-27 MK2. And the mapping was… confusing.
The side of my hi-hat cymbals is mapped to both the kick and the hi-hat pedal.
The crash-2 is mapped to hi-hat tip open, hi-hat tip and kick.
Aux 3 is mapped to kick and hihat tip open.
- is there an easy way to unmap a certain pad from all mappings? That would make remapping double mappings a whole lot easier. The “remove trigger notes” right-click menu is grayed out when using the presets.
- I can understand that the Crash-2 and AUX are mapped a bit weird because, well, they’re both sort of non-standard drums and could be anything on people’s set. Though having them trigger more than 1 pad by default is probably not great.
- The hi-hat side should probably not trigger a kick or the hi-hat pedal by default. Might need to be looked at. It seems inconsistant, and might have to do with Roland’s digital hi-hat sending more midi CC’s?
- Even after clearing and remapping the kick, it still is triggered on hihat/aux3/crash2
Edit: Hmm, checking the midi monitor in Cubase, the hi-hat side triggers CC4 foot, which might have something to do with the hi-hat acting weird.
Aux 3 and Crash2 don’t trigger those
