With the recent lesson in the usefulness of XML (and PDF) files as backups, I wonder if a useful feature in Dorico would be a default option where “saving” a file automatically renders an XML and PDF as well (distinct from the backup feature running in the background as safeguard against system crashes).
Alternately, a “save as” option that does the same thing with one click. And/or automatically saving and rendering the XML/PDF when the file is closed (end of work session).
Proposed workflow:
(1) open file and work in it.
(2) compulsively “save” throughout the work session because anxiety. Save just the Dorico files because time.
(3) end work session, do a final save and close that renders an XML and PDF too, automatically, because I’m going to forget/be too lazy/ be too rushed to add two “export as” steps at the end of my work session.
