Default grid resolution

HI all, whenever I open a score, this is set to a 16th. Can I change it somewhere to an 8th?

Thanks!

Funny. When I open a new document, the rhythmic grid is on the quarter note value. And there’s nothing in Preferences nor Note input options to change that… Are you sure your default value is the 16th note value?

Funny. When I open a new document (either a factory template or starting from scratch), the default grid is an 8th note. (Templates I’ve created default to whatever the setting was when I saved the template).

I’m pretty sure that the Dorico default is an eighth note and can’t be changed. But any saved document will open with whatever value the document was saved with, and any new document from a template will inherit the saved value from the template.

Is anybody getting something other than an eighth note if they start a document with Ctrl/Cmd+N?

Quarter note here!

But according to the manual:

The rhythmic grid resolution is set to eighth notes (quavers) by default.

I’m pretty sure the manual is wrong here. I don’t like the quarter note default, I’d rather have 8th or 16th note, but as it’s a key stroke away from my wishes, I just don’t care… In any case, I’d like to know what the devs think of this! (I’ve tried to find something in the Preferences.xml, userlibrary.xml, options files… and did not find anything…)

For me the grid always appears as quaver (as per the manual).

It looks like in France it’s a quarter

My observation is:

  • New projects with CTRL/⌘ N or from factory templates have the default quaver / eighth note.
  • Custom templates or saved projects persist the current grid while being saved

Same here, yes.

I can assure you cmd-N (new file) gave me a quarter note rhythmic grid…
