I have an SSL UF1 and I use it with the SSL360 plugin because of the limitations of the Mackie protocol or Steinberg’s implementation of it. I.e. it does not follow the selected track automatically without the SSL360 plugin.
I’ve done a bit of investigating and I cannot find a way to set a new track to have the SSL360 plugin as a default. As in, I’d like to add a new instrument track and it already have the SSL360 plugin loaded as it’s added.
If anyone can think of a way to do this I’d love to know, if not I’d love to see this as a new feature in Cubase.
You can create a track preset with no instrument loaded at all, and having in one of its insert slots the plugin you want. So each time you want to add a new instrument track, you can add this track preset instead, and then choose the instrument you want.
Hey, thanks for the response. I have looked into track presets but I can’t find a way to attach a keyboard short cut to a specific track preset. The best I can find is to open the track preset browser.
I suppose I should have added this to my original questions, but what I am trying to end up with is keyboard shortcuts to create an Audio, Instrument, Group or FX track with the SSL360 plugin loaded in as an insert.
That would be amazing, but how? And, is that a default for an Audio track, a default for an Instrument track, etc. etc.?
All I have found so far is that I can assign a key command to open the Track Preset browser but not a way to a key command to open specific track presets.
I found someone who had a workaround for this type of workflow using hidden tracks and logical editors. Wanted to post it here in case others found it useful.
First save a track preset as you like.
Then Go to Studio setup, Mackie Control, and set the following command to a F key: “add track preset” and click enter.
Also ,on Cubase 14 you can now “edit plugin insert n°X for selected track” (under “mixer” category)on your UF1 or with a key command.
Personaly I always add my SSL channelstrip on the third insert and so I assign just one soft key for the SSL plugin edition.
No, I assigned a soft key on the UF1 so I can edit my SSL channelstrip of the selected track.
As I said, I always put the SSL channelstrip (or 360 plugin) on the same insert.
For assigning “add track preset” like you want, see my screen shot above.
