30+ year Finale refugee here. I wanted to turn specific voicings into rhythmic slashes (still want to hear the voicings for playback). I wrote the standard notation, selected all of it, and turned it into a slash voice. Is there a way that I can cause this to always default to the middle of the staff with stems down and ties up? Also, is there a way to keep the rest voice from happening? See attachment below.
First I would try getting rid of the whole rests in the other voice. If that doesn’t help, then select those bars and do Edit > Reset Position.
I right-clicked to get the contextual menu. You get the same under Edit->Notations->Voices
