This is probably obvious, but I cannot find it. how can I make a default to stop Dorico from putting bar counts for slash regions, repeat bars, etc in the parts? I don’t want them at all. I do want bar numbers to show, just not this “count”.

Take a look at Engraving Options > Bar Repeats and Engraving Options > Notes > Rhythmic Slashes.

That’s it! Thank you! I remember now I had done this long before in another score, just forgot about it.

If you open up a new project, change those settings to remove bar counts, and then click Save as Default, then those settings will apply to all future (new) projects.
