Delete Chord Symbol Component

I accidentally made a new chord symbol component when trying to globally update the appearance of a component and I can’t delete it (it looks just like the other component tiles, but with a red corner). It doesn’t automatically clean itself up on reopening the document even though it is unused.

I also found this thread, but it’s a few years old, so just thought I’d check to see if there’s any news on the topic.

Side note: it would be nice to be able to straight away edit components without having to add a specific chord symbol to that dialog. Maybe like a “default chord components” designer in addition to the default chord symbol appearance dialog.

Thanks for any suggestions on deleting the component!

There’s no way to remove orphaned user-defined chord symbol appearance components, I’m afraid. Is it in your user library, or in a specific project? I could perform some surgery to remove it with our internal tools, but it’s not something you can do yourself.

It shows up as a component option regardless of which project I open. So I guess this means it is in my library? I’m not sure how to even add it only to a specific project vs the user library.

Thanks for offering! I don’t think it’s so severe that it requires surgery, but it’s good to know that’s an option should it ever get out of control.
