Delete notes and shift up

I sometimes enter a bar or two by mistake when transcribing and only find out later. How can I delete the notes, just in one part, and have the following notes snug up into position? This is called slip editing in audio DAWs.

Or do I have to select the lot and use Alt-Left Arrow to move the rest back? This is somewhat tedious when there are dozens of pages of notes that need to shift back.

If I understand well:

Delete selected notes with Ins-On

Yes Insert mode is great for these situations. Just be aware that it works per-voice, not necessarily per staff and also not globally across all staves. It also stays on until you turn it off, which can have unintended consequences too.
