Delete or cut time does not move the automation...in N14

cut time or delete time does not grab the automation - it stays where it was.. we use a ALL Folder, where everythin is inside, in N13, you only needed to make a range in the “All Folder” and then delete time - automation was also moving - i made a PLE as a workaround: show all tracks (visibility) - show all used automation - select all tracks (tracks only and not events) (another PLE) - select all events in the range - delete time - undo visibility and deselect all tracks … this works for now - but it is not nice…

Is your workflow working the same in N14?

Yes we always have an “All” Folder… but in N14 it did not work

This!! I am glad that I’ve found your post. I stumbled upon the exact same behavior and thought I was crazy for a moment. But I’ve just doublechecked it with the previous Nuendo.
It does not even work for single tracks if the automation is not range-selected at the same time.

Nuendo 13: Deleting time on a folder track (via track range selection) moves Automation lanes (shown or not) accordingly (in order to close the gap and leaves tracks and automation lanes aligned).

Nuendo 14: Cutting time only moves the tracks bur not the track automation so that tracks and automation lanes are not in sync anymore.

Can anyone explain whether this is an official change or a bug? Either way I would like to see it working like it was before.

Ahh. This thread confirms that this is in fact a Bug thats gonna be solved in the next Release of Nuendo.

I’ve randomly discovered a workaround for now so that automation on tracks follows as it shoud if you:

  1. Include all the tracks in a folder
  2. select the folder track AND select part of the arrangement-Window below where there are NO tracks anymore (See screenshot)
  3. Cut time as usual

Or, if you set the l/r locators and then “select all in loop” with range tool, then delete time, it works as expected

Ah right, thanks for pointing this out.
I didn’t make clear enough that my goal was to properly delete time of only some and not all of the tracks at once. It is still good to know that the global delete-time still works.

Ah. I see. Even if you “show all used automation” before you delete time on the tracks it doesn’t move the automation?

i experienced, that it doese not even work with show all used automation. in my case it worked with “select all in loop” + delete time!

Yes, thats exactly the problem. As long as you don’t specifically select the automation data on the automation lane(s), all the automation stays in place even after cutting time on the track they are part of.

That is especially annoying in folders containing larger amounts of tracks because there is no way now of “time-deleting” on a closed folder-track without messing up the automation timing of the included tracks.

In N13, just by deleting time on the folder track via range selection, you could be certain that ALL the lanes with all automation and so on would have also been affected (whether lanes were shown or not)

At the moment in N14 however, trying the above would only move the audio/midi clips but not their track automation. Even if you use “show all used automation” beforehand, selecting the closed folder and delete time still does not affect the automation.
Weirdly though, selecting part of the folder and just moving it takes all the automation into account as it always did. So this bug seems to be specifically related to the delete/cut-time feature.

It is also not connected to “automation follows events”. This works as expected as long as you’re not trying to cut track-time.
