Hi all, I went to the manual first, but I can make no sense of what’s written there. Can someone please help me remove the pickup bar?
View > deselect Instrument Filter Overlay
Thank you!
-
Activate Insert mode
-
Select the “Global Adjustment of Current Bar” scope
-
Select the rest in the pick-up bar
-
Press Delete
Perfect! Why couldn’t the manual say that? (Sorry, just feeling frustrated.)
There is a reference to this topic in the Deleting bars/beats page but perhaps it could be more prominent.
Yup, it references it, but doesn’t actually tell me how to do it. Your explanation was perfect.
Also, I want to say that if it wasn’t for the kind help of everyone on this forum I would have given up a long time ago. I honestly don’t know if I could ever really master this program, but at least you all have helped me to not give up.
A – slightly shorter – alternative is to double-click the 4/4 signature and delete the ,0.5 in the popover which represents the pickup. However this works only in an empty sheet.
You learn something new every day. Do you still need Insert mode on?
No, you don’t.
As long as I have you here, I just deleted a string of bar lines, which took the key signature with them. If I wanted to show those bar lines again is there a way to bring them back?
When you delete a barline a red signpost appears. Show signposts (from menu View) select and delete it.
When I do that it takes all the other bar lines away as well.
I just had a chance to try it:
With or without Insert mode on, if I only delete the 0.5 from the popover then the pick-up does indeed get removed. However, the quaver rest that was there doesn’t get removed i.e. all the music is a quaver out.
You’re right. It doesn’t work with music in it. But it’s not that hard to shift the music.
Don’t delete the signpost, delete the ,0.5 in the popover
Please press Undo (CRTL/CMD Z) to get to a previous state.
I can’t do it that way. The bar lines are long gone and I’ve added more notes that would all get eliminated if I undid them all that way.
