I copied a “proyect A” file to other folder, where i have “proyect B”. In order to make a “Template” based on “proyect A”. I opened both “proyect B” and “Template” and drag my drum clips to the “Template” timeline. Then, i decided to clear that template, so i removed clips from timeline. Also did the empty trash and eliminate not used media. Surprise…when i opened again “Proyect B”, almost every drum clips where gone. They appear in the pool with ???symbols, and they are gone from their proyect audio folder. Only a few have survived (don’t undestand why) Is there something i’m missing? Is there a way to recover it? Thanks to everyone that could help
Generally you have to understand that a Cubase project file doesn‘t include any audio data. The project file only refers to audio files.
So you should always use the standard cubase folder structure that contains the project file and all related data. If you use a project to delete audio files that are as well part of other projects this will lead to confusion like you have.
As @djpat mentioned aou can try to recover deleted audio files with external tools that are not included in cubase. After recovering you can use the cubase project backup function into a new project folder. This will collect and copy all related files into the recommended structure in that new folder.
It has been highlighted on here before that removed files should end up in the Recycle Bin, but they don’t :
