This is my very first post asking for help, so please forgive if I’m a dumbass 
Being an absolute beginner with iPad and Cubasis I did some experiments creating new projects, unfinished.
What if I wanted to get rid of these useless files?

Just select them and press the"trashcan"button 
Empty the trash from time to time (long press on the button)

I was attempting to delete an already open project. This is obviously not possible.

You can’t delete open projects.
Move per drag and drop deselected projects to the trash folder.
Select the trash folder and long press the delete button,
remove all files from trash folder to clear unusable files from disk.
