Deleting Old Versions of Spectral Layers

I originally installed Spectral Layers v8 then upgraded to v9, then 10 and am now on v11. If I uninstall v8,9 and 10 will this have an effect on v11? I normally use Revo Uninstaller for the job.

Welcome to the Forum.

Normally it is not a problem to uninstall older releases, if they are not used anymore. Where I would be very cautious is the uninstaller you are using.

There are several of these applications around and I tested some of them and always had pretty mixed experiences, mostly negative. They all deleted more than needed and sometimes in a way that caused conflicts and even damage to my system.

So I always rely on the standard Windows uninstall via the Control Panel and never had an issue with that.

Thank you for the reply, I will follow your advice and use the standard Windows un-installer

I recently had an issue where I had installed SL10 into my SL11 directory.

I uninstalled both SL10 and SL11 and reinstalled SL11…SL11 has been working great ever since…SL11 new install seemed to find all my needed files including keyboard shortcuts and display settings with me doing nothing

Thank you for that information, it is greatly appreciated.

Yes the recommendation is to uninstall whatever version you no longer need, but always install the version you want to work with last, if you’re using it as a plugin.
