I migrated a piece from Finale to Dorico. It came out great, with very little need for adjustment. I added the metadata (copyright, year, and so on). When I looked at it in print mode I realized I had “The Main Title” at the top followed by the “1. The Main Title” below it, as it would do if this were a multi-movement (multi-flow) piece. But it’s not. It’s just an ordinary one-movement composition.
So how do I rid of the extra verbiage? Note that this is not a case of preparing to enter music for a new project, but of importing an XML from Finale, doing the touch-up, and seeing that this is how it set it up for me.
That turned it right off. So the data is still there, it’s just not showing. I guess that makes sense.

How is it I don’t have to deal with that that when I begin a new project from scratch rather than from importing an XML file? I would suppose that a single-movement work is the default.
I have other projects I want to something similar with, i.e. old one-movement works that I want to import from Finale XML dumps. At least now I’ll know what to do if the flow heading shows up.
There’s a difference between File>Open… to open an xml file and using File>Import>Xml.
If you import, then the xml will always arrive as an additional flow, but it will use the settings you have already established for the base file. Whereas if you simply open an xml it will use your user default settings.
