Title: Request for Developer Documentation Access (Cubase MIDI Remote / SDK)

Hello Steinberg Developer Team,

I am writing to request guidance and access to official developer documentation related to Cubase, in particular:

  • MIDI Remote API (current and upcoming)

  • Relevant Cubase SDK documentation for control surfaces and integration

  • Any official references or best practices for scripting, automation, or remote control interfaces

Context

I am currently developing a local, non-distributed tooling system for Cubase focused on:

  • Documentation access and navigation

  • Workflow assistance and control-surface style interaction

  • Accessibility-oriented interaction (hands-reduced, context-aware operation)

The project is engineering-focused, not marketing-facing, and is intended to operate entirely within Steinberg’s supported extension and control paradigms.

There is no intention to distribute source code or proprietary documentation, and I am fully open to NDA terms if required.

I have previous experience collaborating with Steinberg on beta testing and have worked within NDA constraints before. My goal here is to ensure the work is done correctly, safely, and in alignment with Steinberg’s intended architecture, rather than relying on reverse engineering or incomplete public references.

What I am asking for

  • Confirmation of the correct documentation sets for MIDI Remote and related APIs

  • Guidance on the appropriate access path (SDK download, NDA, private docs, etc.)

  • Any recommendations on the correct developer workflow for this type of integration

I am deliberately keeping this request concise and technical to minimize overhead on your side.

Thank you for your time and for maintaining a strong developer ecosystem around Cubase.

I look forward to your guidance on how best to proceed.

Kind regards,

Michel

Welcome to the Forum

This is a user forum, so your request is probably not at the right place here.

Did you check the developer pages on the Steinberg Website already? There are links to the various SDKs as well as License Agreements and Documentation.
