Difference between saving a template or song?

Hi peeps,

Can anyone tell me: what is the difference between saving as a template or a song?

Apart from the obvious difference that a template appears as a template in the Steinberg Hub.

But does any extra info / settings get saved with a template?

Templates are Read-only, that’s it.

Could you explain to me what you mean by “read only”?

What can a song do (or what can you do with a song) that can’t be done with a Template?

Read only just means that when you open it it opens as an unsaved project, and the template remains unchanged, thus the name, template. It’s just that simple.
