I saw this discussed 5 years ago in the forum but it wasn’t supported then. Has this been added in the meantime? I’d like to just use e.g. a piano instrument sound when doing note entry, but I’d like to hear the real VST instrument in play mode.

For Mac: if you are on Mac, it is even easier :
just deactivate the MIDI thru in Dorico, and assign your MIDI keyboard to your standalone Piano VST, that you launch outside of Dorico (and of course the same keyboard should be activated in Dorico too):
Thanks for the workaround! I’ll try that. I don’t love having to launch a separate VST but it makes sense.
