While setting incipits for early music pieces, I asked myself, if there is a possibility to use different Music Fonts in the same project. I guess not, because the scope of the Music font is the whole project, as far as I can see. But maybe I’m overlooking something?
Right now I have to have a separate project in the other font, and then import graphic slices from it into the “main” project into graphic frames.
You’re unlikely to be conveying the actual design of the source material, so any “antiquation” of the incipit is potentially misleading , in terms of its job in supplying information about the source.
Clef, note duration, pitch, and prolation are the essential elements.
That being said – and whole-heartedly agreed with – it should be possible to do this via a custom notehead set (and a good bit of effort). Likewise, a custom clef could be done (I believe this is still only achievable by doricolib hacking); I’m not entirely sure about how hacky a corresponding meter signature (for the prolation) would have to be.
Clef glyphs are easy to change. Pick clefs that you don’t need for the music and …
(Go to town? Bob’s your uncle? um … some idiom suggesting it’s easily done.)
Ok, I just wanted to make sure - thanks!
In this case it’s ars subtilior pieces with quite unusual proportional relations, so I will just take plan B and include short scans from the original manuscript.
