Different note length in Score Editor

Hi All,

Please forgive me… I’m feeling so dumb to have to ask these questions so I hope someone can assist me. Been googling for two hours but cannot find a solution. To be clear… this is about the Score Editor in Cubase 14. I know the key does not match  but I first want to be able to draw the notes correctly.

Question 1: I include 2 screenshots… The first one shows what I want to achieve (original score) and the second one is the result I get in the Score Editor. Obviously for the “bass” I want to use the correct note lengths instead of these weird 8th notes that are combined. I know the sounding result is the same but the visibility is not. I want to use one Clef and voice. This is common use for classical guitar.

Question 2: Can I have the Score Editor on top always or is this the same behaviour as the mixer that always goes to the background when clicking somewhere in the Project or Transport panel. I have only one monitorscreen.

Open the Settings under the list of Layouts. Open the instrument tab, in the Voice section enable the second voice and change it to “Prefer Stems Down”.
While you’re there, I’d also recommend to switch the Instrument Type, because that’ll give you a more correct staff label by default.

Once you closed that dialog, you can select the lower notes, and press the “2” button on the right side of the note toolbar at the top, which will move those notes into the second voice.

There is currently no way to have the Score Editor window always on top.

Hi Stefan,

Super! That worked perfectly  Thanks very kindly for your quick response and clear explanation.

Best Regards,
Rinie
