Diminished triad chord symbol

In the Engraving Options, you can choose to display a diminished chord (triad or 7th) thus:

However, when inputting a diminished chord, I get this:

Why the over-sized “o”?

Is there a video that explains how to control this element?

Actually – related question: Is there a way to “globalize” the way diminished chord symbols appear, when it’s different from that which is displayed in the Engraving Options?
