Is there any way in this process to automatically have the figured bass markings correctly positioned to their right notes?
Not that I know of. Figured bass attaches to the grid, much like dynamics and chord symbols. All you can do is to reposition the figures using (eg) alt-left.
Thank you, I feared that might be the case.
To the development team: I hope some day this can be changed so it’s attached to the notes, instead of the grid.
As folks have found with articulations, this note-attachment can be a two-edged sword. I hope the Development Team can find an approach that allows maximum flexibility.

Figured bass figures, like chord symbols, are system objects. I wonder what the prospects are of including system objects in time-scaling operations.
