Is it possible to disable the blinking of the red marker/cursor, i.e. having it steady instead?

No, and I don’t think this would be a good idea. Especially, this differentiates better the edit cursor from the play cursor, when zoom is much out.
And this is a common computer paradigm, to have an blinking cursor. As in this text box where I write this message…

I personally hate blinking cursors (and I know many with me do) and I have no single application that I use, that have the cursor blinking enabled.

For me it’s simply very distracting.
I would be very happy if this could be implemented in the future (as an option under settings of course!).
