Disabled Audio Tracks - Re-Associating Source Audio Files

Hello,

I just recently have been having this issue where some of my audio tracks are greyed out. This not a ‘Disable/Enable Track’ issue where we can toggle that setting in track properties. But I think that the project has somehow losts it’s reference to the project folder. I went to the file directory and see the ‘Audio’ folder that Cubase creates but it’s empty. The other odd thing is that the other audio tracks work fine, but none of those audio files are in the ‘Audio’ directory.

Is there a way to pull up in Cubase where the project directory is referenced and I could re-associate any missing source audio files?

Hi,

If this would be the missing Audio files, the Audio Events wouldn’t be greyed out. There would be straight line (no waveform). If there are missing Audio Files, Cubase through a message while loading the project, where you can search for the folder/files.

On my end :

  • A greyed out track header indicates that the track is disabled.
  • A greyed out event indicates that it is muted.

2 stages for this, to get more or less the same result :

  1. Media > Prepare Archive… : this function verify that all the medias used by your project is in your \Audio subfolder and prompt you to make a copy in it, if not the case.

  2. File > Backup project… : it allows us to copy the current project and all its depencies (subfolders included) in a new folder, previously created.

To clarify - these steps should happen in the specific order above. If you do step 2 without 1 you’ll just end up with the same mess in a new location.
