I have been updating my film scoring template’s engraving, and have come across an interesting bug.
In all of my part layouts, I have their layout options - under Page Setup → Flows - set to “Fill frames with blank staves → after every flow” (with “show blank staves in systems…” checkmarked, and “include clefs” chosen as well). At this point b/c it is a template, there is no music present, and I usually only have 4-8 empty bars to start with.
When I finish a film project I usually have somewhere up to 2 pages of music in the parts, so I ALSO have - under Staves and Systems → Casting Off - “Fixed number of systems per frame” set to 8. However, when creating the template, deleting all the music from the original project file, I found that the parts disappeared in Page View entirely. All that showed up was either a gray screen, or the color of my background gradient. I could still use playback, and even could select something in a part if I pressed Cmd+A, but couldn’t see or edit anything otherwise.
What I found was that the individual parts repopulated in page view if I selected them in Layout Options and unchecked the option for Fixed number of systems per frame. So in summation, not really sure if this is supposed to happen or what I may be doing wrong. I found the solution, which is essentially to wait to fix the number of systems per frame until AFTER the music has been composed.
Wondering if anyone else has had this issue?
