Disk cache spikes when transferring a project from one pc to the other

Got a decent laptop and a high end pc, when I move a project from my laptop to my pc(or vice versa) the project is full of clicks and audio dropouts on play back and on the meter it shows that every time it happens the cause is a disk cache spike
Any tips on preventing this problem when moving projects from 2 different pcs?

Main computer is a custom made one with i5 12th 12600k and 3080ti My laptop is lenovo ideapad slim 3

It doesn’t matter if I create a project on my weaker laptop and then transport it to my main pc the problem goes both ways

Not sure I get your problem, but can’t you simply take a short break from playing back tracks while transferring projects?
Are you having issues while the transfer in ongoing? or is it after the transfer is completed that the resulting files are problematic?

How do you do this transfer exactly? Please provide some details. Using a USB drive? over Ethernet/wifi? else?
