could you implement that the resulting waveform is being displayed in the audio window while audio is being recorded?

This is what happens when you record from a montage track.
Yes, but it would be very handy to have that in the audio window to have some other functionalities. As it is already implemented anyway it would be just an optiion in the Audio window:
=> Display Wave while recording
In the meantime use “Analyze tab” switch to Audio Input
and in Meters use “WaveScope” then start to monitoring or recording.
