However, sometimes I need to put a field below a chord that has no bass tone like the dimished 43 chord at the end of bar 2 and the lyrics follow the bass voice. I could use another voice to apply the lyrics to but in this case I would like to use a text field and manually put the chord symbol below the missing chord. It seems to work, but then if I close the score page and reopen it , the text field has dissapeared and the text field I used is gone.
Sure. In the symbols inspector, I go to “Other” then click “Text”. I then click underneath the missing chord in the score to write the chord analysis of the missing chord as shown in the screenshot provided above (in this case the chord is viiº43) It looks great but when I come back into the score editor this text field is gone and i am left with only the “Lyrics” text as shown in my screenshot above. The chord symbol "viiº43 is gone from my score
I looked into your score.
Do you mean you have already placed a text here and it has disappeared?
Here is a cut-down version of your file.
Could you please insert a text at that location as you did before and upload the saved project again? (no need to zip) Keyboard_Progressions_1.cpr (223.3 KB)
If you look at my first screenshot, there is only one place where there is a “hole”. I described in my OP that this chord - because it lacks a bass tone - did not get a chord analysis and my lyrics are “glued” to that voice so when I push tab, it automatically goes to the next chord with a bass tone in the bottom voice. to remedy this I added a text field in that place but it dissapears when I reopen the score editor. Understand?
I very well understood your original post.
I am trying to reproduce the potential bug you mentioned regarding the text function in the score here.
Could you please insert a text at the indicated location in the Cubase project file I uploaded and tell me if the text disappears again?
This is what your topic is about.
We will address your other problem afterwards if you don’t mind.
Thanks.
Hi Maestro. I downloaded the cpr but this project has the wrong midi track in it so I can´t do what you asked. The track with the problem is the bottom one with the diminished chords. Could you still help me please?
The fact is that all symbols (texts, graphics, dynamics etc.) in the Score Editor always belong to the primary (upper) voice on any given polyphonic staff.
And if you insert a graphic symbol in the voice 2, it will remain in voice 2 until you close and reopen the score, after which it will switch to the primary voice: 1.
The problem here in your score is that the primary voice in your lower polyphonic staff is deactivated, and only voice 6 is on.
Now when you insert a text on the lower staff it will have no other choice than voice 6 to be put on. When you reopen the score, the inserted text will automatically switch to voice 5, and as the voice 5 is off in your settings, the text won’t be displayed.
Follow these steps:
Edit Polyphonic mode settings like the following
At this stage, all your previously invisible texts have reappeared.
Do not click anywhere in the score, and change Channel to 5.
haha, you got it in the end hey? Well done. I didn’t realize it would be such a ball ache honestly. Glad we got to the bottom of it. Thank you kindly sir! I don’t know if you work for the forum but you are a blessing to all of us the use the score editor a lot
