Hi, looking for help from you kind people. I need to increase the distance between the staves in each pair. So, increasing the distance between the 2 violin parts, and the 2 viola parts, etc.
Can’t seem to get any result on that front. I have set the justifications at 100 per cent and 60 per cent, tried toggling “automatically resolve collisions …”. But nothing seems to enable the minimum gaps settings to change that distance. I would expect staff to staff would be the one, but nothing, even if I increase the value from 8 to 50. no change. also staff group to staff, no change, no matter the amount.
(I can use the bottom music frame margin to compress and bring the pairs together, so that is working. but for the sake of this issue I have just reduced that to 0 for the time being, so it is filling the whole page. )

The gap used for divisi staves can be either Staff to staff, or Braced staff to braced staff (like in your project, apparently.)
Layout Options > Vertical spacing, near the bottom of the Minimum Gaps section, just below Inter-system gap:
So you can either keep this option and increase the Braced staff to braced staff gap, or choose Staff to staff, and all the staves will be spaced evenly.
Thanks for the reply! For “gap to use for divisi staves” I select “staff to staff”, then go to minimum gaps, where I change the “staff to staff” gap from 8 to 20, and nothing changes. I do the same for “braced staff to braced staff” and nothing changes. Then I toggle the “gap to use for divisi staves” to “braced staff to braced staff” and repeat the above, nothing changes. None of those combinations produce any change whatsoever. I have verified that I am actually editing the correct layout.

These settings work for me as expected. Are you actually using Dorico’s divisi feature?
Can you upload your project, or a cut down version of it that demonstrates the issue?
Ah, could be my issue there. I didn’t build this score from the ground up, and I didn’t use the divisi feature. I am reconstructing an old score, and started with an xml import.

But I would still recommend using divisi, which is really designed for this kind of situation. It would also allow you to condense when needed. Here you’ve two-staff instruments instead.
But you would first need to change them to section players (they’re individuals in your project).
Ah, you are quite right! That’s on me for not trying that one.
I will for sure use the divisi feature in the future.
