Distinct Text Types

I hope today’s question is quick and easy.
Is it possible to create a custom, distinct text type? Alternatively, is it possible to expand selection to text items not just by their type, but by specific properties?
I’m guessing the answer is, “Sorry, but not possible.”
Thanks as always.

You can create your own paragraph styles. Each one then shows up under Write > Create Text. Or you can use the default shortcuts for creating staff or system text and then change the paragraph style in the toolbar.

You can’t filter or select by Paragraph Style, no.

But, for instance, I have a Paragraph Style called “Expressions”. I’ve saved it as a default, so I can assign a key command to it.

So, if I want my Expressions style, I just press Shift E, instead of Shift X.

Thanks… I do understand about paragraph styles (and have duped/adapted more than a few). My question is about finding the most efficient way to target (CTL-SHIFT-A) selection expansions to a subset of text items. If that distinct paragraph style defines the subset, then an Edit Filter option for item properties would be fine. Perhaps even better would be a custom “text type”, so long as the CTL-Shift-A shortcuts behaved the same as they would for any predefined “type.”
FWIW, my need is related to staff text subsets which can/should have adjustments made across an entire flow, when moving between FS and Parts layouts. Hope that makes sense!

Benwiggy, your reply popped up while I was typing, so I missed it.

Can you accomplish this by modifying the paragraph style rather than moving the text? You can use the style’s indentation to move things left/right, and you can use things like leading to move text higher (but only a little lower).

Benwiggy - Thanks for today’s newbie lesson!! I hadn’t seen the implications of a “default” status for paragraph styles and that basically solves it!

And just to be clear… For some reason, I somehow missed completely the difference between ‘paragraph styles’ and individual ‘properties.’ So thanks again for the basic correction!
