Divisi don't playback right

Hi, question for anyone who knows: how to make playback play differently in divisi. For example, I have solo cello and gli altri, solo cello in arco and gli altri pizz, but both play pizz. Thanks for a solution to this.

Try to turn on Independent Voice Playback in the Play Tab.

Thanks, it worked, with a little fumbling. Thanks again.

The biggest problem in Dorico is that when you introduce a solo+gli altri divisi that you original unison voice (and top staff) becomes the solo voice and the new bottom staff the full section (- the soloist). So you always need to switch the attached library on the top staff in IVP when going to solo+altri and back to unison or vice versa. You will have to use the full section library entry twice for the unison single staff voice and as gli altri (if need with some volume reduction) on the bottom staff. Both more or less identical voices will also have different color which can lead to a lot confusion especially if you have multiple flow with different divisi configurations.

It becomes even more complicated with multiple solo instruments as contrary to a logic voice setup just adding new solo voices, Dorico always moves the gli altri to an additonal new voice on bottom staff.

To avoid these issues I now mostly add a separate solo instrument in the setup and hide the staff when it is not playing and add gli altri as text entry on the section staff.

Until the Development Team makes Condensing perfect, it makes sense to be grateful to the Team that Condensing exists at all. It was a massive improvement over other programs’ solutions.

Not only condensing but also IVP is great but it sometimes takes a lot of time to get all the voices allocated right.

I have been spending the last two days trying to get Stephen Taylors great Dorico project Rite of Spring, part 2 to playback correctly with all voices in all flows allocated to the correct libraries.
