DMA buffer size

I’m working on getting the lowest latency I can without dropouts for band recording. I see two choices in the driver console pop up.

I noticed that with the 32 sample buffer size that if I am on the lowest DMA setting (8) as opposed to the highest (32) I can lose a millisecond of latency. Do the DMA buffer choices make a difference in avoiding dropouts when utilizing low buffer settings?

Why do you want a low latency for band recording - monitoring purposes?

Yes, monitoring for band recording.

For one or two performers I do direct but for a band I need the routing to group channels, effects that are consistent with playback values and use of the control room.
