DMX Not working after latest update

I’m not sure if the problem is with my equipment or if it is due to the latest VST Live update. I have both VST Live 2 and VST Live 3 installed. I opened a new VST Live 2 project, added a DMX clip from 1.1 to 9.1. Added some DMX data using the DMX Mixer In.

The output device is the ENTTEC Open DMX USB and it was working fine when I played a gig last week.

DMX Setup shows the FT232R USB UART and shows it is connected, but when I play the track, I do not see the lights working.

Hi,

Thank you for your report.

Could you please go back to that project and use “File → Save Archive…” to create an archive of it? Once done, please zip the generated folder and upload it here so we can take a closer look.

I also have a couple of quick questions that will help with the analysis:

  • Which version of VST Live 2 are you currently running?
  • Do you see the same behavior in VST Live 3 when testing with a new project (add a DMX track, create a DMX clip, add data)?
  • The Track-Metering works in version 2 and 3?

Michael.

… One more thing to check : Have you tried sending the DMX data to the “DMX Visualizer Out”?

another question comes up : Have you tried to send the DMX Data to the “DMX Visualizer Out”?

After that, please open the AUDIENCE view and check whether any colors are displayed.

Note: For the visualizer to show colors, DMX events need to be sent to channels 1, 2, and 3.

Thank you,
Michael.

I am running Version 2.2.90.521. I see the same behavior with VST Live 3.

test.zip (112.5 KB)

Yes the visualizer out is working.

Checked on 2.2.90 and 3.0.10, for me dmx on artnet out works normally (in V3 after raising dmx track fader to 0). Did not check on USB DMX out, i’ll do tomorrow.

Meanwhile i noticed that changes in dmx track fader is not recognized as project modified and it did not triggered the save dialog on quit.

Cheers, Ciro.

I was able to get the usb dmx working by going to device and connections and setting the output to my DMX USB. Then in the track view move the DMX track fader all the way to the right. The problem is when I close the project and reopen the fader is back to the left and the DMX lights do not turn on. I don’t have any automation set so I’m not sure why the fader does not stay in the position I leave it when I save and exit.

This has been reported, I’m sure Spork is working on it

… yes, we know about it and already working on the fix,
Michael.

Is there a step-by-step guide somewhere?

I have different values on channels 1 and 2 in the DMX track.

I can select the visualizer or my DMXis controller, but I don’t see anything.

Similarly, the track isn’t recording any controller movements, even when I select the DMX mixer as the input, record, and move the controllers.

Everything is just dead.

The online help isn’t helpful in this case, because I’ve already configured everything it says correctly.

Which version you use?

3.0.10.88

First: download 3.0.12.

I guess, and more possibly your dimmers are on ZERO, could you check maybe?
