didn’t read all of this… but the way to reactivate is to go into the MySteinberg area and find the software that you already activated, and then click on reactivate, (wherever it’s listed.) You’ll get a new code that you then enter in the elicenser software on your computer.
I had been using Cubase 12 Pro nicely on my Windows 11 OS until today when I tried to look at my licenses using the eLicense software. It said your database is old and needs maintenance and I said OK. Big Mistake!! It did something and my Cubase 12 pro license vanished and now it does not run. I tried to enter the Download Activation Code into the Download Assistant but it says the DAC is already used by another user (which is me). So, there is no way to make it work again. What gives?
That is really strange since Cubase 12 doesn’t use the eLicenser at all. Furthermore the eLicenser services have been shut down a few months ago, so you cannot really do anything there.
It is likely that your issue lies elsewhere. Is Cubase Pro 12 activated as per the Activation Manager?
Yes it was working fine for 2 years up until today after I did a maintenance on the license database. After that Cubase 12 pro stopped working. I want to:
- Get Cubase 12 pro working on my windows 11 again
- I want to run the same Cubase 12 pro on my MacBook Pro.
- I want to upgrade to Cubase 14 pro.
How do I do each of these steps?

Furthermore I am a regular customer like yourself, not a Steinberg support staff employee.
I have been using Cubase 12 Pro for the past 2 years so yes, it is activated. But, when I run the activation manager it does not show Cubase 12 Pro or for that matter anything else. I have a eLicense (USB stick) for Cubase 11 Pro as well…
The eLicenser is irrelevant for Cubase 12 and higher and running the maintenance in eLicenser Control Center can’t work anymordue to the server shutdown. However Cubase 11 will continue to work as long as your dongle is connected.
This usually happens when you are logged in with a different Mail address than the id you have used for avtivating the license.
Try to login to your mySteinberg profile and check the licenses online. There you should see them, make sure to use the correct account.
So, I checked, Juergen, and I found that I do indeed have a different email address and account. I used that I now I can see the license but it still does not work - Cubase 12 Pro still does not run saying it can’t find the license. Do I need to activate it using the activation manager? I did try that but the activation manager could not find any licenses.
You can log out from Activation Manager and relogin using the correct mail address. That will allow the Activation Manager to get all your licenses from the mySteinberg account again.
If they are not activated you can click on the Activate button and that is all you need to do.
Actually, I just tried that, but I found that the download assistant was logged in as one email while the activation with another - when both were logged in with the same email, I saw the red activate button and after clicking on it, it worked !! thanks for the help!!
