Do I need to use Midi Remote to add a generic fader control surface?

Well, nothing working again, so will continue research…

I’d like to know the following:

  1. What do you intend to control with the 3 Sparrow faders? Cubase channels, VST plugins, or something else?

  2. What 3 MIDI data does the Sparrow output? You mentioned MIDI CC 1 (Modwheel). What do you see in the MIDI monitor? (A screenshot would be helpful.)

Hi, ASM

Thanks so kindly for your input here, very frustrated.

Iwant CC11 for Expression-CC1 for Modulation and CC7 for Volume.
I use the faders to control my orchestral libraries, maily strings and solo strings.

Here’s a screenshot showing Modulation which is only fader working currently. The other 2 show up here too but not working as I have NOTassigned them within the actual instruments themselves, if necessary? Think this is my problem if needed.

The MIDI Monitor shows that MIDI CCs 1 and 11 are arriving at the track (which can also be assumed for #7). I don’t know which instrument plugins you’re using, but the mechanism is similar across the board. The instrument parameter to be controlled has to be assigned a MIDI CC value. Here’s an example using HALion Sonic:

Right-click on the control > Learn CC > move the knob on your hardware controller/keyboard. This will create the link.

There are other assigning methods (like Arturia, using configuration lists), but the principle is the same.

Got it thanks. I will explore this today and see how I go.
I mainly use VSL String libraries and many Spitfire, along with Cinematic Studio libraries.

Greatly appreciate you input and efforts…I knew in the back of my head somewhere I was missing the obvious. Take Care.
