Do you guys never have the need to Link all selected channels to an EXISTING Link Group?

I’ve posted about this before, but it’s driving me a bit nuts and I’m surprised to see not much support for this problem.

The problem:

  • You have already created a Link Group
  • You add some new tracks to your project
  • You want to add these new tracks to the existing Link Group above (eg. VCA)
  • Cubase will not allow you to collectively add the selected tracks to the existing link group - only to a new one

My workaround is having to create a new VCA group, then linking that VCA to the main VCA for the instrument group – and it’s a bit lame.

An oversight of this feature perhaps?

This is one of those subtle and seldom spoken about differences between Cubase and Nuendo. In Nuendo VCAs can be added freely, and tracks added/removed from them freely as you would with group tracks, without this “link” abstraction.

You can add tracks to existing VCAs, only you have to do it one at a time. Still not perfect, but at least you don’t have to add an unnecessary VCA.

Was aware of this, but thanks

Sometimes it’s hard to judge the knowledge level, and sometimes the obvious isn’t so obvious.
But I agree with you, you should be able to add multiple tracks to existing VCAs all in one action.
